One dead in three-vehicle crash in Battle Ground

A driver was killed in a  collision between a Clark Public Utilities truck and two other vehicles in the 28900 block of Northeast 82nd Avenue in Battle Ground just before 12:30 p.m. Friday.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office reported the collision occurred when one vehicle was passing another. One driver died at the scene. Another driver received minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. The driver of the third vehicle was uninjured and remained at the scene.

“All three vehicles collided at one point,” said Sgt. Tim Bieber.

The roadway in the area of the crash varies between areas of do not pass and areas where it’s legal. Bieber said the department was still trying to determine whether a vehicle crossed the yellow line or not.

The Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit investigated the collision, Northeast 82nd Avenue between Northeast 279th Street and Northeast 299th Street was closed for the duration.

The Sheriff’s Office wouldn’t release the names of anyone involved in the collision as of 3 p.m. Friday.

Clark Public Utilities Spokeswoman Erica Erland deferred to the Sheriff’s Office for details, but added the utility will give a statement later on.
