Letter: Personal discipline is lacking

Every day I read something in the paper or hear on television about the opioid crisis in America, and what is the government going to do about it?

Why don’t the American people start being accountable and stop blaming everyone else for their problems? Yes, drugs are too readily available but, at some point, we need to be responsible for our own actions.

Everyone needs more personal discipline in their life. It sounds simple but most people don’t have it or have never been around it, their parents didn’t possess it nor did they understand the real value of personal discipline.

How is it some are able to keep and invest their money, never worrying about their financial future, and others live day-to-day and are broke or bankrupt in a few years? It’s simply no personal discipline. No one achieves very much without it.

Be a reason, not a excuse!

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
