At 12:02 a.m. Monday morning, Battle Ground Public Schools announced it was taking advantage of an infrequently used state statute in an effort to bring clarity to ongoing negotiations.
The district Monday asked the Public Employment Relations Commission to conduct a process called “fact finding.” The organization will “examine information where there is disagreement and provide a nonbinding opinion that will advance the bargaining process,” according to the district statement.
Clark County sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday served a series of search warrants at Daybreak Youth Services in Brush Prairie as part of an investigation into allegations of unlawful sexual contact between clients, between a staff member and client, and for failure to report criminal conduct as required.
The sheriff’s office said it has been investigating the allegations at the youth outpatient and inpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment facility, at 11910 N.E. 154th St., since early June.
A Clark County Fire District 6 captain is accused in Oregon of sexual abuse after inappropriately touching a woman during a training exercise in May, according to the Washington County, Ore., Sheriff’s Office.
Scott M. Taube of Vancouver was charged with third-degree sexual abuse and harassment, the sheriff’s office said. He was arraigned Tuesday morning in Washington County Circuit Court. He was booked and then released. The crime is a misdemeanor in Oregon.
The public was offered its first look at initial designs for the future Terminal 1, the Port of Vancouver’s oldest property.
During a workshop after Tuesday’s Port of Vancouver Board of Commissioners meeting, architects working with the port described the vision of transforming Terminal 1 as it becoming a beacon, gateway and front porch of the port, Vancouver and Washington state.
