A crash on southbound Interstate 5 at the bridge closed two lanes and backed traffic up for miles on Monday morning.

A crash about 7:50 a.m. Monday closed the right and center lanes of Interstate 5 during the morning commute, backing up traffic on the freeway to Northeast Minnehaha Street and causing more backups in downtown Vancouver and around Uptown Village on Fourth Plain Boulevard.

The blocks around Esther Short Park in downtown were at a standstill by 9 a.m.

Traffic on state Highway 500 west was slowed past P Street, more than 2 miles, and state Highway 14 west was stopped or slowed for almost a mile by 8:30 a.m.

There were no immediate details on the crash or injuries.

An earlier crash on southbound Interstate 205 near Interstate 84 had caused issues for eastside commuters but was starting to clear at 8:30 a.m.

Traffic on both southbound freeways cleared around 10 a.m.
