Letter: Support independents for office

What can be done with our present political situation?

In 1992, Ross Perot was a candidate for president. He was a businessman with a good reputation. He ran as an independent, but divided the vote of both Republican and Democrat candidates. America saw the virtue of a successful businessman being president. Now we have a businessman as president in a country consumed by hatred for the other party. We vote for the candidate we hate less.

What to do? The only solution better than equal numbers of Democrats and Republicans is to elect 435 independents. Consider it when we vote in November. Turnover will surely help.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
