No one was hurt late Thursday morning when a fire ignited inside a garage in the Barberton area.

Firefighters were called to the split-level home at 4612 N.E. 114th St. shortly before noon for a report of a house fire, and found the garage fully engulfed in flames.

Clark County Fire District 6 said the homeowners had left the building by the time they arrived.

The fire was fairly small, and firefighters quickly got it under control, according to District 6.

District spokesman David Schmitke said firefighters needed only the water in the first responding fire engine’s water tank to put out the fire.

The Vancouver Fire Department also responded. Department spokesman Joe Spatz said the fire damaged some of the home’s exterior siding but did not appear to extend inside the house.

The fire also damaged a car parked inside the garage.

The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating.
