A 32-year-old Vancouver man was sentenced Friday to nearly 11 years in prison for the rape of a woman earlier this year.

Nikolay I. Kalachik was originally arrested April 20 on suspicion of first-degree rape, felony harassment and first-degree kidnapping.

Court records show the charges were amended in July to include first- and second-degree rape. Kalachik was found guilty of those charges by a jury later that month.

Kalachik drove the victim to the area of Northwest Lower River Road and Northwest Erwin O. Rieger Memorial Highway and raped her, according to a probable cause affidavit.

He eventually dropped her off in the area of East Fourth Plain Boulevard and F Street. She walked to the Clark County Courthouse and reported the incident to police.

Clark County Superior Court Judge Bernard Veljacic handed down a sentence of 129 months against Kalachik.

In addition to the prison term, Kalachik is required to register as a sex offender for life due to the class A felony conviction.

Kalachik previously spent time in prison for threatening to kill a Vancouver police officer, bomb Clark County buildings and bomb the White House. He pleaded guilty to intimidating a witness as part of a plea deal and was sentenced in March 2014 to more than a year in prison.

A pre-sentence investigation report filed in the rape case says Kalachik has additional criminal history that stems from “poor behavioral attitude toward authority.”

Kalachik, according to the report, continues to deny he forced his victim to have sex.
