Letter: Reject Initiative 1631

With regards to Initiative 1631, the carbon tax, proponents claim it will fine corporate polluters and we’ll all be able to breathe clean air. Do they really think, if corporations are fined, that those added costs won’t be passed on to the consumers?

Also, if utilities are forced to discontinue use of natural gas, the ratepayers would incur higher rates.

Now, I don’t know what air the I-1631 backers have been breathing, but I’ll gladly stick with the air I’ve been breathing, so if there were an initiative for common sense on the ballot, I would vote “yes,” and “no” on I-1631.
