Community notebook: Vancouver’s Morales Jr. returns to boxing ring

Vancouver boxer Victor Morales Jr. will take on Marcello Gallardo on Saturday, April 6 at the Clackamas Armory, 15300 S.E. Minuteman Way in Clackamas, Ore.

The co-main event is scheduled for eight rounds on the card billed as 2Pound’s Fight Night 3 featuring Portland’s Steve “2Pound” Forbes, former IBF world boxing champion in the main event.

Morales (10-0, six knockouts) is coming off a first-round knockout of Philip Adyaka on March 2 in Medford, Ore. Gallardo is 7-4 with three knockouts.

Blaiswas Eaglepipe and Lorenzo Cladera are also on the fight card.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the event begins at 6:30 p.m.

Help Alcoa Little League after fire

A fire on March 27 at a baseball field behind Fort Vancouver High School destroyed an Alcoa Little League score tower and its contents, including equipment and decades of mementos.

Little League Board President Justin Cvitkovitch told The Columbian the estimated the monetary loss to be around $20,000. The league has set up a fundraising page asking for half that amount.

According to the GoFundMe page, the fire destroyed pitching machines, equipment bags, bases, snack shack supplies, freezer, balls, umpire gear, sound system, and scoreboard controls, among other things.

Blooms To Brews runs set for April 28

The Blooms to Brews Marathon, Marathon Relay, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K Run/Walk takes place on April 28 in Woodland.

The start/finish is Horseshoe Lake Park with the marathon going off at 6:45 a.m. followed by the half marathon at 7:30 a.m., the 10K at 8 a.m. and the 5K at 8:30 a.m.

Registration fees through April 25 are $110 for the marathon, $80 for the half, $55 for the 10K and $50 for the 5K. The four-person marathlon relay is $210 for a team. Prices go up after April 25.
