Vancouver Police Department East Precinct officers seized 30 firearms in the first three months of 2019 during eight different investigations.
That’s according to a VPD Facebook post published Friday morning. The seizures were carried out by the precinct’s Neighborhood Response Team detectives, according to the post.
“To put it into perspective they seized a total of 30 firearms for the entire year in 2018 and only 17 firearms in 2017,” the police department said.
The guns were seized during the investigations of five robberies, an assault and a domestic violence incident.
There are 19 pistols, six rifles and five shotguns now under the police department’s lock and key. Three of the firearms were reported as stolen and one has had its serial number removed.
