Richland police shoot 74-year-old man armed with shotgun

RICHLAND — Authorities say police shot a 74-year-old man in southern Washington after he pointed a shotgun at officers.

The Tri-City Herald reports Michael Miller had called 911 Sunday morning, telling a dispatcher that he had a shotgun and was near a church in north Richland.

According to police reports, Richland officers found Miller and tried to talk with him, but he fired his shotgun into the air.
