I think it is commendable that there are citizens willing to sacrifice their personal potential to run for elected office, to work toward making life on this planet better for their fellow citizens. Where would we be, or where will we be, without them?
However, something seems to happen to them when they are sworn into office. They seem to be overcome by the office and elected body that they pledged to produce quality services for their fellow citizens. It is almost like they have become a member of a private organization dedicated to itself and not their constituents. They seem to work on projects without talking to the public, or the several other elected bodies that have also pledged to produce a quality product for their constituents. Some of us see these organizations fighting with each other over the resources needed to fund their projects.
We love you all, but do not forget that we who appreciate your efforts also pay the bills for your projects. Believe me, our pockets are not that deep. There must be better ways of solving problems than just raising taxes.
