EVERETT — A 77-year-old man charged with murder in the 1972 killing of a young woman has pleaded not guilty.
The Daily Herald reports Terrence Miller of Edmonds entered the plea in Snohomish County Superior Court in the death of Jody Loomis.
Charging papers say Miller’s DNA was found on a boot Loomis wore the day she was shot in the head and left to die in the woods near Mill Creek.
A forensic tool known as genetic genealogy led detectives to Miller. Authorities say a genealogist used the DNA to build built a suspect family tree and that last year the research pointed to a family that included Miller.
