Three people were taken to the hospital, and a fourth to the Clark County Jail, after an alleged intoxicated driving crash Saturday on Interstate 5 north of Vancouver.

Emergency personnel were called around 5:50 p.m. for a report of a crash in the southbound lane near Northeast 88th Street. Upon arriving, they found a black Dodge Nitro flipped on its top on the side of the road. A silver Pontiac GTO had crashed through five sections of a chain-linked fence and another car was facing the wrong direction in the third lane, Washington State Patrol Trooper Jeffrey Heath said.

Three people, including a pregnant woman, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, Heath said. WSP stayed on scene and closed the right two lanes for roughly two hours for the investigation.

The investigation found that the driver of the Pontiac — Michael Kristek, 62, of Marysville — was racing a yellow sports car when he lost control, Heath said. Kristek hit the Dodge, causing it to roll over, before hitting another car,.

Kristek was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The driver of the yellow sports car fled the scene before police arrived.
