Prep highlights: Fort Vancouver boys soccer team beats Prairie, 3-1

Mario Juarez-Cruz made 12 saves in goal, and Fort Vancouver’s boys soccer team got goals from three players in its 3-1 upset win over second-place Prairie in Tuesday’s 3A Greater St. Helens League boys soccer game.

Jose Tizol-Moralez, Darius Sheer and Fernando Garcia scored for the Trappers to help the team win its second straight game to win its second straight game and move into a three-way tie for fourth place with Evergreen and Hudson’s Bay.

Stars of the day

• Nick Jenkins, Ridgefield boys track and field, jumped a 2A-best 46 feet, 3.25 inches — a personal best — to win the triple jump in a win over Woodland. Jenkins also won the long jump.

• Jenay McCants, Woodland girls track and field, won the 400 meters, 100 hurdles, long jump and triple jump in a dual-meet win over Ridgefield.

• Kiana Coburn, Fort Vancouver girls golf, shot a 4-over 39 at Fairway Village to lead Fort in its match against Kelso.

• Trent Thompson, Battle Ground boys track and field, threw a 4A-leading 182 feet, 7 inches to win the javelin in a dual-meet win over Heritage.

• Dylan Buhrmester, Columbia River baseball, went 3 for 3 with two RBI and a walk in a 12-2 win over Washougal.

• Isaac McLeod, King’s Way Christian baseball, went 6 for 8 with four runs, a double, triple and 4 RBI in the doubleheader split for King’s Way against Stevenson.

• Joe Lindbo, Ridgefield boys soccer, made five saves in goal in the Spudders’ 2-0 shutout of Mark Morris.

• Maks Yurichko, Columbia River boys soccer, scored 2 goals and assisted 3 more in a 6-1 league win over R.A. Long.

• Collin Newberry, La Center baseball, went 3 for 5 with RBI double in the eighth of the nightcap as Wildcats earn a split in White Salmon with a 6-4 win in eighth innings. The Bruins won the opener 1-0.

• Carter Sutton, Union baseball, went 3 for 5 with two runs, a double and two RBI in a 9-1 non-league win over Sprague of Salem, Ore.

• Brendon Leach, La Center boys soccer, had three assists and one goal in an 8-1 league win over Castle Rock.
