Letter: Trump must face the music

It’s now indisputable: Russians clandestinely acted to help install Mr. Trump in office to create chaos in our electoral system. Then Mr. Trump personally engaged in ongoing (albeit incompetent) obstruction of justice. Only for a questionable bureaucratic guideline that a sitting president cannot be indicted does President Trump remain a figurative fugitive of justice. The president should resign immediately.

In a perfect world, the House would impeach, and the Senate would remove him from office. But is this ineffective executive who acts like a mob boss worth a perplexing and lengthy constitutional route? Probably not. If only because in the end Senate Republicans remain in lockstep with his corrupt administration. The American electorate needs redemption; in 2020 throw the Republican bums out. Robert Mueller provided the road map.

And come January 2021, the then ex-president will be free to “face the music” of the federal and state judicial systems. But his passport had better be revoked in the meantime.
