Letter: British not impressed with Trump

When President Donald Trump recently visited England, having been invited to meet and dine with the Queen, most of us will remember viewing on TV the crowd of protesters who floated a huge balloon, depicting a cartoonish and unbecoming image of our president.

On a London vacation visit just concluded, a family member encountered a street vendor offering rolls of toilet paper, each square of paper bearing the printed portrait of our president. Who could resist, right?

There can be little doubt about how poorly our president is perceived by some of our closest allies. And no, the paper was not confiscated by U.S. Customs during the re-entry process.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
