Letter: Immigration reform is needed

By Claudia Franson, Vancouver

I would like to apologize for my terrible grammar, coming from poverty since I was little, and still struggling now with my family makes it difficult to go back to school. My reason for writing is about this idea that Trump is considering reducing to zero the number of refugees that will enter the USA next year. I want this country to continue being the beacon of light, and give families the chance mine had. It hurts to see children being separated at the border with such coldness and no dignity. It hurts to say it, but this president with all my respect doesn’t represent my family and state.

I want a better solution. I would love to see a immigration policy reform, residents that are not criminals given a chance, and families kept together.
