Washington State University Vancouver will launch a series centered around cultural arts through hip-hop, starting with a visit from 2017 Seattle mayoral candidate Nikkita Oliver.

The Cultural Arts and Equity Hip-Hop Series starts at 4 p.m. Sept. 4, with Oliver’s visit at the Dengerink Administration Building, Room 110 at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., Vancouver.

The series will feature workshops, talks and performances by activists, scholars and artists. All events are free and open to the public. According to a university press release, the series will “broaden the community’s understanding of how cultural arts through hip-hop can cultivate an inclusive campus community.”

The eight-part series will run through April. For a full list of events and guests, visit www.vancouver.wsu.edu/news.
