Bergstrom beats out Mark Morris' Soetamin for honor

Camas girls basketball player Faith Bergstrom is the The Columbian winter sports prep athlete of the week for the week ending Dec. 7.

Bergstrom beat out Mark Morris swimming Kodee Soetamin for the honor.

Bergstrom scored 29 points vs. Kelso and had 16 points and 11 rebounds vs. Silverton.

Nominations are limited to one per sport, one per school, each week. Winners cannot be nominated again until the postseason.

Other nominees

  • NEVEAH CASSIDY, UNION GIRLS WRESTLING: Cassidy won by pin and injury default to take the 155-pound division at the Yelm Jump On In Tournament.
  • NICOLE HAYES, SKYVIEW GIRLS BOWLING: Hayes bowled games of 212, 163, 211, 167 for an average of 188 for the week.
  • KADEN PERRY, BATTLE GROUND BOYS BASKETBALL: Perry averaged 28 points and 17 rebounds in two non-league win for the Tigers.
  • KODEE SOETAMIN, MARK MORRIS BOYS SWIMMING: Soetamin swam state-qualifying times in the 50 free (22.53) and 100 free (49.61) in meet vs. Capital.
