Letter: They know not what they do

I’ve long been bewildered by the evangelical community’s support of Trump. I figured that they must have to twist themselves into pretzels to rationalize it.

When I read Ron Brandon’s letter (“Trump earns evangelical support,” Our Readers’ Views, Dec. 2), I saw that that’s indeed what they do. Interestingly, he uses the Old Testament for his case. I would suggest he would be better off reading the red-lettered words in the New Testament. I fail to understand how any so-called Christian can read Jesus’ words and continue to support our corrupt and amoral narcissist in chief. After responding to this letter with disgust, I took a deep breath and thought of Jesus’ words on the cross — “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
