Girls basketball: Prairie 41, Snohomish 36

The defending 3A champion Falcons turned to their defense, especially in the final eight minutes to earn their first win of the season.

Prairie outscored Snohomish 13-0 in the fourth quarter.

Coach Hala Corral’s message: one stop, one score.

“We had to do one stop at a time,” Corral said. “Their defense was amazing.”

Corral added Prairie also had zero fourth-quarter turnovers and failed to allow any second-chance opportunities by Snohomish.

Claire Heitschmidt led Prairie with 12 points and Meri Dunford added a double-double of 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Allie Corral had six points and eight assists.
