Letter: Hold all accountable

By James Ault, Vancouver
Published: December 20, 2019, 6:00am

Numerous times in the past few weeks we have been told by members of the House Intelligence and Judiciary Committees that “no one is above the law.” However, this is not even remotely true.

No one is above the law unless you are Hilary Clinton and deleted thousands of subpoenaed emails on a private server. No one is above the law unless you are James Comey and leaked confidential FBI memos to academia and media. No one is above the law unless you are James Clapper who lied to Congress about metadata intelligence gathering on American citizens. No one is above the law unless you are Strzok/Page/McCabe misleading the FISA court to spy on political opponents.

These are some of the reasons many people have deep suspicions about hidden protections given to elites in Washington, D.C., and the surrounding wealthy suburbs. Policy differences are political and should be resolved by elections and not by people acting as if they know better than U.S. Code of Federal Statutes.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
