Letter: Evangelicals mindfully for Trump

I would like to respond to Linda Larsen’s letter of Dec. 10 in which she asks, “Why do evangelicals support Donald Trump?” She suggests that perhaps they know not what they do.

On Donald Trump’s way to the White House, he met with evangelical leaders and shared with them that he was for the same things they were, such as life, religious freedom and Israel. He asked that they would be with him. They said in that case they would. He also partnered with a born-again believer, Mike Pence.

In his letter of Dec. 2, Ron Brandon referenced the ancient king, Jehu, whom God anointed to exterminate the house of Ahab and Jezebel. So the question is, “Can God raise people for His purposes?” The answer is yes. He is God. Perhaps evangelicals do know what they do.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
