CASCADE PARK WEST — Pet Peace of Mind recently received a $1,000 award from the Petco Foundation. It was presented Dec. 17 at Petco, 305 S.E. Chkalov Drive. Pet Peace of Mind is a Salem, Ore.-based program that helps hospices, home health agencies and hospitals assist patients with pet-care needs. Dr. Emily Huber adopted Woofy from Pet Peace of Mind and submitted her story to the Petco Holiday Wishes campaign. Her story won an honorable mention award, which came with a grant for $1,000 for Pet Peace of Mind. She also won treats for her dog from Petco. “The person who submitted her story adopted her dog from one of our partners in Portland. Because we wanted it to be convenient for her to attend the award ceremony and we have a lot of supporters in the Vancouver area, we opted to have the celebration in Vancouver,” said Pet Peace of Mind Program Manager Christy Borke. Hospices that work with Pet Peace of Mind in Southwest Washington include Community Home Health and Hospice locations in Vancouver and Longview.
