Taylor Stephens became the all-time leading scorer in program history, but the Wildcats fell short in a 1A district first-round game at Montesano.

Stephens scored 14 points to give her 1,702 career points, breaking the previous record of 1,694.

La Center trailed 16-4 after one quarter but battled back to pull even in the third.

But La Center foul trouble allowed Montesano post Zoe Hutchings to dominate in the fourth quarter. She finished with 26 points as the Bulldogs (13-8) outscored La Center 23-6 in the fourth quarter.

La Center (10-11) will face Forks in a loser-out game Thursday.
