Girls basketball: Stevenson 61, Tenino 53

The Bulldogs used their defense and a 16-2 run to take the lead for good in their 1A district opening-round win over the Beavers at King’s Way.

Kaitlin Wenz led the Bulldogs with 21 points and Katie Rathgaber added 13 as Stevenson rallied back from 15 points down in the second half to take the lead for good early in the fourth quarter as part of a 16-2 scoring run.

Stevenson advances to play 1A Evergreen champion Elma at 6 p.m. Friday.
