A tree fell over Interstate 5 in Salmon Creek on Tuesday afternoon, blocking northbound traffic for about 40 minutes.

The tree fell around 3:20 p.m. across all lanes near Milepost 6.3, but drivers appeared to be making their way around it via the left shoulder. Traffic quickly backed up south of Northeast 63rd Street.

The Washington State Department of Transportation said the tree was cleared by about 4 p.m., though some slowdowns for adjusting traffic remained.
