The Columbian article about our nation’s disappointing and hypocritical treatment of Native Americans was enlightening (“Panel discusses indigenous life, history,” Feb. 17, The Columbian). Then, isn’t it hypocritical to accept a Democratic candidate who, on a Texas lawyer form, claimed to be an “American Indian”? Would she be accepted as a presidential candidate had she instead claimed to be “Black”?
