Mark Morris used second chance points and a dominant rebounding advantage to fuel a win over Woodland.

The Monarchs held a one point lead after one quarter, and outscored the Beavers 23-10 in the second.

Reece Gibb and Rarey Sommer each had 18 for Mark Morris.

Woodland was paced by Tyler Flanagan’s 15 points.

“We would play great defense then they would get a rebound and put-back,” Woodland coach Andrew Johnson said.

The Beavers are missing starter Isaiah Flanagan, who remains out with a back injury. Johnson said the team hopes to have him back by the second round of league play.

Despite the rebounding woes, one key detail stood out for the Beavers’ coach.

“We never quit,” he said.
