‘Everybody has a Story’ about love – tell us yours

There are 364 other days in a year, but we seem to assign a single lonely date, Feb. 14, to an infinitely complex emotion. We even try to squash that emotion down into one simple word: love.

Stories about love say so much more. In honor of Valentine’s Day, The Columbian’s “Everybody has a Story” feature will seize the Sunday Life page and print as many true tales by readers about love, in all its permutations, as space will allow.

The main “Everybody has a Story” rule still applies: Your story must be true and first-person — that is, it happened to you. The other usual rule is stricter: You must strive to keep your story as concise as possible, so we can print lots of them. The shorter the better, please.

Send your Valentine’s Day “Everybody has a Story” to: scott.hewitt@columbian.com. The deadline is 10 a.m. Feb. 1. Relevant photographs are welcome, too.
