Angst Gallery seeks work for “A Study in Blue,” an exhibit to run Aug. 2 through 24. This is an open call to artists for a group show dedicated to all things blue: azul, cobalt, sapphire, indigo, aquamarine, turquoise, teal, cyan and other cool hues. Artists can submit up to three pieces for a fee of $10 to $20 (on a sliding scale). Vancouver Community Concert Band seeks brass, woodwind and percussion players, active and retired. All abilities welcome; no audition required. The volunteer community band, along with its polka band, Dixieland Jazz Band and chamber ensembles, performs regularly around the area. Theater and performance

Magenta Theater seeks actors to audition for “Death in High Heels” at 6:30 p.m. July 22 at 1108 Main St., a British play based on Christianna Brand’s debut crime novel. The play will run Oct. 4-19. There are 10 roles with understudies to be filled. Magenta Theater embraces non-traditional casting. English accents will be used where applicable. Rehearsals are Aug. 12 through Sept. 30, weekdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10 to 4 p.m., unless noted otherwise. All roles are volunteer and without pay. Headshots are required, and theater resumes are preferred. No appointments or monologues are necessary; auditions are cold readings from the script. Love Street Playhouse seeks actors to audition for “And Then There Were None,” based on Agatha Christie’s classic murder mystery novel. Auditions are 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 5 at 126 Loves Ave., Woodland. No appointments are necessary. Arrive early to fill out paperwork. Auditions will be cold readings from the script; no monologues required. Bring headshots, personal calendars and theater resumes. Niche Wine Bar and Printed Matter Vancouver seek short poems on the theme of “community” to commemorate the ninth anniversary of Niche Wine Bar. The winning poem will be printed on wine glasses used at the Niche Anniversary Party at the Kiggins Theatre on Oct. 14. The second-place winner’s poem will be printed on t-shirts. The third-place winner’s poem will be printed on beverage napkins. Winners will gain entrance to the Ninth Anniversary Party on Oct. 14 and their poems will be displayed on the screen in the Kiggins Theatre. The deadline for submission is Aug. 15.
