Portland — A 40-year-old Gresham man sustained potentially life threatening injuries when he was stabbed Sunday morning in an apartment at Barberry Village on Southeast 188th Avenue in Rockwood.

Police have not yet charged anyone in connection to the stabbing, but have detained a 68-year-old man who Gresham Officer Adam Baker said knew the victim. Police have not released the name of the victim or suspect.

The stabbing was reported around 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Baker said. When police arrived, they detained the 68-year-old man at the apartment complex. He said the 40-year-old was immediately taken to the hospital for his injuries.

Investigators have interrogated the 68-year-old man, Baker said, but there is a language barrier between them. The incident is still under investigation.
