I’ll have another slice of apple pie, please. Why? Because this is going to be an apple pie day with clear skies and sunshine. And since it will be on the hot side, I’ll take that pie a la mode, with vanilla bean, of course.
A high close to 90 is forecast for today. A bit cooler Monday in the mid-80s, and then we’ll have morning clouds Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs near average or a little below. High pressure rebounds late in the week, and we’ll see 80s again through the weekend.
Unstable moisture in the upper atmosphere will move north from California. It may kick off upper level dry lightning over the Cascades and perhaps the Columbia River Gorge. Right now, looking at the maps, there’s a 50 percent possibility of that. We do not need dry lightning.
We have been doing so well this summer in the wildfire department, but as we know that can flare up any time. Even with highs in the 80s, that dry north-northwest wind, such as we enjoyed Sunday, can dry things out quickly.
