Letter: Show that we will never forget

Donald Trump’s rally in North Carolina turned my stomach. All pretenses of gentility are gone and Trump has moved a giant step closer to assuming the mantle of Adolf Hitler.

The chants of “lock her up” that were directed at Hillary Clinton during the last campaign have now turned into “send her back,” and hurled at Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. Trump not only made no attempt to quell it, he smiled and basked in it. It is clear that overt white nationalism has been sanctioned and unleashed upon our country as the basis for a political campaign.

This behavior cannot be accepted, tolerated, or normalized. Not in the United States of America! Decent Americans of every political belief must unite and rise up; we must raise our voices and shout to the world, “Not in our country.”

We must remember the clarion call of our Jewish brethren: We will never forget.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
