Woman walking on Bellingham highway struck, killed

BELLINGHAM — Authorities say a woman was killed when she was struck by a car while walking in the middle of a Bellingham highway.

KOMO reports that troopers received a 911 call just after 10:40 p.m. Tuesday there was a person walking on State Route 539 As troopers headed to the scene, a second call came in to 911 two minutes later stating a person had been struck by a car.

Those first on the scene found the woman in the northbound lane and attempted CPR on the victim, but she died at the scene. Authorities say the driver was not impaired and will not face any charges.
