Letter: Debt is a threat

Does anyone understand our national debt? Does anyone really care? We are over $22 trillion dollars in debt, and rising. It costs billions every year to just pay the interest. We keep sending money to other countries, many of whom don’t like us. Is anyone in government talking about the debt or making plans to pay it down? Is anyone who is aspiring for a government position talking about the debt, or making plans to pay it down?

The Green New Deal, Medicare-for-All, free college and free health care for immigrants (legal or not) will increase the debt by billions of dollars. Wall Street will pay for it? Who is Wall Street? Come on!

We have two warehouses filled with gold: one in Fort Knox and one in Denver. The cost to guard this treasure must be in the billions. Why not sell a few million kilos of gold bricks and use the money to pay down our debt? We’re not on the gold standard anymore.
