Clark County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a suspect in a stabbing that took place outside an Applebee’s restaurant in Vancouver on Saturday morning.

David Carpenter was booked into Clark County Jail on one count of assault 1 and one county of attempted assault 1, according to the news release.

Just before 11:40 a.m. Saturday, deputies were dispatched to the Applebee’s near Northeast Highway 99, after 911 callers reported a stabbing and that a suspect was leaving the area on foot, also providing a description of the suspect, according to a Clark County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Once deputies arrived on the scene, moments after the initial call, they located the suspect and gave him commands, but the suspect didn’t comply.

“A taser was deployed and after other deputies arrived on scene the suspect was taken into custody without further incident,” the news release reads.

An early investigation, according to the news release, indicates that the suspect attempted to stab someone seated in a car in a parking lot outside Applebee’s, but the driver was able to reverse away from the suspect and flee. Damage was done to the driver’s car.

The victim of the stabbing was walking his dog through the parking lot, and was approached by the subject before getting stabbed. The victim then walked into the Applebee’s, got aid and waited on medical assistance. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment, and his injuries didn’t appear to be life-threatening.

The news release states that it appears as though none of the individuals involved in the incident knew each other. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Detective Unit will conduct the remainder of the investigation, which is ongoing.
