This week’s mini heat wave ended in record territory Wednesday with a new high temperature for the date in Vancouver and a number of Oregon cities.

The National Weather Service reported that Vancouver reached a high of 96 on Wednesday, breaking the record of 94 set on that date in 2002.

Records were also set at Portland International Airport, which hit 98, breaking a record of 93 from 2002, and in the Oregon cities of Troutdale, Hillsboro, McMinnville, Salem and Eugene. Hood River, Ore., tied its record high for the date.

This week’s hot conditions also set records for warmest low temperatures for June 12 in a number of Oregon locations, though not in Vancouver. Vancouver did set a record for the warmest low temperature on Tuesday, however.

A rush of marine air overnight should keep temperatures lower today, with a forecast high of 82 in Vancouver. Overnight lows Thursday into Friday wil be in the low 50s, with temperatures into the weekend in the 70s.
