TACOMA — An Arlington man has been sentenced to three years in prison for sexually abusing a teen in Olympic National Park.

The Peninsula Daily News reported Monday that 36-year-old James Christopher Overton pleaded guilty in January to sexual abuse of a minor and having child pornography.

A complaint filed in May says he began communicating with a girl on the Kik app when she was 13 and he was 33.

U.S. District Court Judge Ronald B. Leighton said at sentencing that Overton engaged in a pattern of exploitation.

Documents say the two met in November 2016 at a Port Angeles convenience store and that he drove her into Olympic National Park, where the abuse happened.

In a plea agreement, Overton admitted to communicating with other minors between 12-15, engaging in communications of a sexual nature and asking for sexually explicit images and videos.
