A group advocating construction of a third bridge across the Columbia River near the ports of Vancouver and Portland will hold an open house Saturday in Vancouver.

The group, Third Bridge Now, was founded by Sharon Nasset, a Portland resident. For more than 15 years, Nasset has persistently advocated building a third crossing immediately west of the BNSF Railway bridge.

Saturday’s event will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Wayne W. Nelson Community Room at Clark Public Utilities, 1200 Fort Vancouver Way. Project presentations are scheduled for noon and 2 p.m., with elected officials invited to share their views at 11:30 a.m.

According to Nasset, state Rep. Vicki Kraft, R-Vancouver, and Port of Camas-Washougal Commissioner Bill Ward are scheduled to speak.

More information is available on the group’s website: thirdbridgenow.org.
