Assistance League names officers for upcoming year

Fairway-164th Ave. — The Assistance League Southwest Washington kicked off a new year of fundraising and volunteering at its May 16 meeting by installing new officers. The all-volunteer nonprofit donates almost $80,000 and more than 10,000 volunteer hours in the community annually. The officers for the upcoming year are Bette Ludden, president, Kari Tinker, secretary, Janine Smith, treasurer, Mary Ellen Silk, vice president of philanthropic programs, Peg Steinmeyer, vice president of membership, Kathy Holm, vice president of development, Michelle Craig, vice president of education, Tanya Persons, vice president of strategic plan and Nancy Gaston, vice president of marketing and communications. The league has five programs to assist children and teens in foster care and children in schools with high poverty levels, as well as women and children treated for assault in hospital emergency departments.
