RIDGEFIELD — A project to provide sewer to future developments on both sides of Interstate 5 in the Ridgefield area is on budget and heading for completion this fall.

Tapani Inc., a Battle Ground contractor working under a $2.4 million contract with Clark Regional Wastewater District, is building the Ridgefield North Junction Sewer Project.

The project consists of a new pump station on North 10th Street east of North 45th Avenue and a mile-long sewer trunk line. More than 2,800 feet of 21- and 24-inch gravity sewer pipe has been installed, including a critical section under I-5.

Once that core infrastructure is in place, sewer service can be extended to individual properties as they develop, including the Clark College at Boschma Farms satellite campus.

“The project is approximately 70 percent complete and is looking like it will be completed in September, ahead of schedule,” Heath Henderson, district engineer, said in a news release.

Sewer construction on North 65th Avenue, east of the freeway, is scheduled to begin Friday. Drivers should expect a single-lane closure, with flaggers guiding traffic through the construction zone.
