1. Green streets

Vancouver’s beloved Paddy Hough Parade will sweep all of Uptown Village into its green embrace from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 15, marching down Main Street with rousing drums, local school kids, cruisin’ car clubs, city dignitaries, civic groups and regular folks who want to show their Irish pride. The parade — happening rain or shine — is organized by the Hough Foundation, which supports programs for students at Hough Elementary School. 360-607-8966 or www.houghfoundation.org

2. Second time’s a charm

The 1940s-themed Sweetheart Hangar Dance from 7 to 10 p.m. on March 16 (rescheduled from Feb. 9) is a fundraiser for the Friends of Fort Vancouver, a nonprofit group that supports educational programs at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. The dance — held in the historic hangar at Pearson Field, 1115 E. Fifth St., Vancouver — features a no-host bar and live big band music with VanPort Jazz, providing a swingin’ atmosphere for dipping, twirling and socializing in vintage dresses and WWII-era military uniforms. Buy tickets ($30) at friendsfortvancouver.org or at the Fort Vancouver Visitor Center.

3. Spring forward

“Awakening from Winter’s Slumber,” is just what you need to admit some warmth into the wintry, rain-drenched corners of your mind. Sip a glass of wine, enjoy live music from singer/songwriter Randy Cate, feast your eyes on artwork by Grace Valentine, and tickle your brain with a dash of spring-themed poetry. This springtime soiree is happening at 6 p.m. on March 20, at Cellar 55 Tasting Room, 1812 Washington St., Vancouver. Admission is free; wine and small plates will be available to buy, and Valentine’s original art will be for sale. cellar55tastingroom.com

4. Free-wheeling

Vancouver Views and Brews is a monthly meet-up featuring craft beer and presentations on a range of topics, and the March 19 gathering with Lilly Longshore promises to take listeners into new territory. This author, advocate and fearless wheelchair adventurer will present “Wheeling the World: The Pacific Northwest,” with stories, ideas and photos about awe-inspiring things for people of all abilities to do in this corner of the country. Loowit Brewing, 507 Columbia St, Vancouver, will open its doors at 5 p.m. before the presentation at 5:30 p.m.; food and drink will be available to purchase. loowitbrewing.com

5. Barks and brews

It’s practically a requirement that denizens of the Northwest love beer and dogs in equal measure. Yappy Hour, 2 to 5 p.m. March 16 at Heathen Brewing’s Feral House Pub, 1109 Washington St., Vancouver, allows customers to bring both passions to the table, quite literally (although no dogs are actually allowed ON the tables). This dog-friendly event supports the Humane Society for Southwest Washington’s upcoming Walk/Run for the Animals on May 4. Sign up at a discounted rate, or simply come to enjoy $1-off pints of craft brew and spontaneous tail-wagging. heathenbrewing.com/feral-public-house
