Prep Highlights: Battle Ground baseball takes two against Walla Walla

Solid pitching and timely hitting lifted the Battle Ground baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of Walla Walla on Tuesday in Battle Ground.

Tanner McDonald struck out seven over five innings in the first game, which Battle Ground won 3-2. Avery Fetting got the final four outs for the save.

Isaiah Newton and Zach Hauser combined to shut out Walla Walla in the nightcap, 8-0. The Tigers scored eight runs on just six hits, two coming from Cody Niblack.

Daniel Joner went a combined 3 for 6 with two runs and two stolen bases for Battle Ground (3-2).

• Jake Blair, Camas baseball, went 3 for 3 at bat with two home runs and five total RBI in a 24-3 win over Woodland.

• Wyatt Wooden, Woodland baseball, hit a solo home run in his lone at-bat in a 24-3 loss to Camas.

• Brady Majewski, Prairie baseball, went 3 for 4 with a double, a triple and three runs scored in a 14-11 loss to R.A. Long.

• Micah Foskett, Union baseball, was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI in the Titans’ 10-0 victory at Estacada (Ore.).

• Olivia Grey, Woodland softball, threw a no-hitter, walked one and struck out 19 in a 4-1 win over Mountain View.

• Kaily Christensen, Woodland softball, went 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBI in the Beavers’ win.

• Grace Twiss, Evergreen girls track and field, won four events — 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, pole vault and long jump — in the Plainsmen’s 86-43 dual-meet win over Hudson’s Bay.

• Christian Martin, Seton Catholic boys soccer, tallied three goals and one assist in a Trico League win over Castle Rock.

• Emma Cox, Camas girls golf, posted a 2-over-par 38 at Camas Meadows to lead the Papermakers’ 189 team score against Heritage.

• Zach Maier, Skyview boys track and field, swept the 110 and 300 hurdles and also won the javelin in a dual-meet win over Heritage.

• Elin Bertheau and Caroline Johnson, Mountain View tennis, improved to 2-0 in doubles with a 7-5, 6-3 win against Union.

• Lexie Klinkhammer, Heritage girls track and field, won all three jumping events — long jump, triple jump, high jump — in the Timberwolves’ dual meet against Skyview.

• Caleb Sagert, Prairie boys track and field, won the long jump, 300 hurdles and the pole vault — clearing a personal-best 13 feet — in Prairie’s dual-meet win over Fort Vancouver.
