Letter: Vaccinations are necessary

As you all have probably heard or seen, measles have become quite the hot topic right now; 63 out of 73 people that have contracted the measles have reported that they have not been vaccinated. This not only had an effect on the kids that didn’t get vaccinated, but could also affect the kids that did.

I go to Evergreen High School and our staff and students got hit bad. During finals week, we had more staff gone than I had ever experienced. It got to the point of classes being watched by administration staff because there weren’t enough teachers, all the teachers had to go and get their medical papers before they could come back to work. Then at some point, we ran out of staff to watch classes so kids had to sit in the school auditorium for almost an hour. Luckily, we’re out of that situation and my classes at school have been running smoothly again.

It seems the report of measles have decreased. The last new case was reported March 13. But to prevent this from happening again, I encourage you vaccinate your children.
