People in Business

Kevin Tapani was appointed to Identity Clark County’s board of directors. Tapani is the vice president and chief financial officer for Battle Ground-based Tapani Inc., which performs heavy civil engineering and site construction projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. Employed by the family business for 29 years, he focuses on financial management, risk management, facilities and business development. His other activities include service on the Columbia River Economic Development Council, Northwest Utilities Contractors Association and the city of Battle Ground’s planning commission. Tapani Inc. started in 1983 and now employs about 500 people. Identity Clark County is a privately-funded nonprofit organization comprised of about 90 business leaders at 900 Washington St., Suite 1040. Find out more at www.iccbusiness.org.

Bryce Helgerson will leave his post as president of Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, 2211 N.E. 139th St., where he’s worked since 2013. Joining the Legacy Health’s executive team, he was promoted to chief integration officer starting April 1. One of Helgerson’s major accomplishments was leading Legacy Salmon Creek’s clinical team to earn the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Five-Star Rating, a distinction awarded to 6 percent of hospitals in the nation, according to a news release. In his new post, Helgerson will work on aligning internal and external relationships with many of the organization’s ambulatory, non-hospital operations as the system transitions from fee-for-service to value-based care. Helgerson serves on the board of a number of organizations — including Washington State Hospital Association, Columbia River Economic Development Council, Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce — and is on the Chancellor’s Advisory Council at Washington State University Vancouver. Joining him on the executive team is Trent Green, who was promoted to chief operating officer. Legacy Health is a nonprofit health system with six hospitals and more than 70 primary care, speciality and urgent clinics.

Molly Evjen was promoted to director of volunteers and community resources at Share, the local nonprofit that serves the area’s homeless and people in poverty. Evjen started as a part-time program assistant. As a director, she will be responsible for volunteer efforts and community resources for Share’s programs and facilities. Last year, 2,884 volunteers contributed time to Share, which operates three homeless shelters, a transitional housing program, an apartment complex and street outreach program.
