The riot at Gaiser Middle School shouldn’t be a surprise. As outrageous and shocking as it was to see teenagers physically threaten law enforcement officers, it was inevitable. Those students have been taught, by example, that “morally correct” people can ignore laws, elections and court decisions with which they disagree.
Plato famously said that the two most important things for a society is who teaches the children and what they are being taught. Sadly, many of our young are not learning how to think rationally or deal with reality. The current fascination with socialism shows how little civics is taught.
Teachers had a legally binding contract, but decided to strike. Then they ignored a judge’s order to go back to work. Unions apparently are exempt from the law.
Combine that elitist attitude with the lies foisted on our kids about gender, guns, race relations and the weather, and we are lurching toward a generation of functional illiterates when it comes to civics, politics and government. Most educators are dedicated to their students. The politics of mandatory union membership keeps the radicals in charge.
