Letter: Bridge approach is waste of time

Of course I am glad that the Washington Legislature in the waning hours of its session allocated $35 million to do — what, exactly? Reserve half of this princely sum for opening an I-5 Bridge office and the other half to fund “the future pre-design and planning of the bridge.”

But that pre-design and planning has already been done for the original CRC that was killed off by the 2013 Washington Senate vote. So why start from scratch? Now that both chambers of the Legislature are safely in Democratic hands, and the GOP is no longer able to sabotage the CRC’s progress, all that was needed was to undo that 2013 vote, which should have been simple enough. So, on reflection, I am not happy at all; this is just wasting time. And for what? Saving face for Don Benton?
