The Clark College baseball team ended up not gaining any ground on Lane, as the Titans won the second game of an NWAC doubleheader on Saturday to earn the four-game series split.

Clark (20-22, 9-11 NWAC South) won the opener at Kindsfather Field 14-10, but Lane (18-18, 10-10) rallied to win the nightcap 6-4.

Jack Fletcher was 2 for 6 with a triple, two RBI and three stolen bases in the first game for the Penguins. Grant Francis had a double and drove in three runs.

In the second game, Kai Perreira hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to break a 1-1 tie, and Cody Stevenson had a two-out RBI single to make it 3-1.

Lane would rally, scoring five runs with two outs in the top of the seventh. Clark answered with one run in its half of the seventh on a two-out hit by Grant Francis, but Lane’s Hayden Curtis struck out Connor Wojahn looking to end the game.

Clark concludes the regular season with a four-game set against Mt. Hood on Friday at Gresham and Saturday at Kindsfather Field beginning at 1 p.m.

SOFTBALL — The Penguins were swept by Lower Columbia in their final regular season home games.

Lower Columbia posted wins of 7-5 and 10-6.

Evergreen High grad Alexis Henderson was 3 for 3 with two doubles, and Mary Schorn was 2 for 4 with a home run in the first game for Clark. Chloe Blehm, a Prairie High grad, and Emily Hewitt also hit home runs.

Schorn and Hewitt also homered in the second game. Schorn was 2 for 2 with a double as well, and Hewitt was 2 for 4.

Clark (10-22, 8-15 NWAC South) finishes its season at Southwestern Oregon on Tuesday and at Grays Harbor on Friday.
